Ash Cave Hocking Hills Ohio
Ash Cave is a horseshoe-shaped cave in Hocking Hills Ohio is massive; measuring 700 feet across, 100 feet deep, and 90 feet high. A small stream of the East Fork of Queer Creek cascades over the rim into a small plunge pool below. Ash Cave is so named not for The Ash tree but because Native Americans held tribal meetings there to take advantage of it's natural acustic qualities. They built many council fires. When the white men came the floor was very thick with ashes from the fires.
